ALEPPO SOAP is a natural personal hygiene product, originally from Syria and handmade for centuries. It dates back to 2500 BC, and it is considered the ancestor of all solid soaps, including Marseille soap. Unlike Nablus soap, which contains only olive oil, Aleppo soap is made from olive oil and laurel oil, making it more fragrant and valuable.
The traditional soap-making process involves cooking olive oil with lye extracted from sea salt for several days. During the cooling phase, a variable percentage of laurel oil is added, enhancing the fragrance and value of the soap. The higher the laurel oil content, the more refined the soap.
After preparation, the soap is hand-cut and left to cure for at least nine months on special drying racks. The longer the curing time, the higher the quality of the final product.
It is the origin of all hard soaps worldwide; for example, Marseille soap, created in France in the city of the same name, is derived from Aleppo soap.
This soap is made exclusively with natural plant ingredients and is free from synthetic additives. Its formulation makes it particularly suitable for sensitive skin and those with allergies or intolerances to fragrances or other additives commonly found in personal care products. Aleppo soap does not dry out or irritate the skin. It also possesses antioxidant, antibacterial, and moth-repellent properties.
